Privacy and opting out

What FLAT sees, how long it keeps it, and how to turn it off.
View as Markdown

FLAT only ever works with counts. This page covers exactly what is and isn’t recorded, and how to opt out. Back to the FLAT overview.

Privacy

FLAT was designed to see counts and never content.

  • Message content is never read, stored, or transmitted. Only totals are recorded.
  • No user IDs are stored. Everything is aggregated at the server level.
  • Only server-level totals are processed, never per-user breakdowns.
  • Activity data is retained for 90 days by default, then purged automatically.

Opting out

Any server owner can turn FLAT tracking off from Edit on their server in the dashboard. An opted-out server won’t appear in activity-sorted listings but stays discoverable through search and category filters. You can also hide the score from your listing without opting out.

See your own data

Your dashboard shows a per-signal breakdown of what’s contributing to your current score. Analytics and FLAT share one dashboard page.
