# The FluxerList bot

The FluxerList bot brings the directory into your server. Members bump and vote from chat, your activity score updates automatically, and everyone can earn and spend [FL Tokens](/tokens) with a few short commands.

## Get started

#### Add the bot

Use the invite above and choose your server. You need permission to add bots there.

#### Check it's alive

In any channel, run `!ping`. The bot replies with its latency, status, and uptime.

#### See what it can do

#### Set it up

Run `!settings` to see every server setting in one panel. The [setup guide](/bot-setup) explains each one.

#### Link your account

Anything that touches tokens needs a FluxerList account. Sign in once at [fluxerlist.com](https://fluxerlist.com) with Fluxer, and the bot recognises you.

> Bumping needs your server to already be listed on FluxerList. If the bot says a server isn't registered, submit it first with `!list` or on [fluxerlist.com](https://fluxerlist.com/add?type=server).

## Prefix and mentions

The default prefix is `!`. Server admins can change it to any value up to 5 characters with `!prefix <new>`. You can also mention the bot instead of using a prefix, for example `@FluxerList help`, and that always works whatever the prefix is set to.

Most commands have short aliases. `!help` shows them in brackets, and the [command reference](/bot-commands) lists them all.

## What the bot never does

* It never reads or stores message content. Activity tracking records counts per server, and no user IDs.
* It only DMs you for a few things: a large token reward, updates about your listings, FluxerList team alerts, and a note when it can't reply to your command. You can turn each off with `!usersettings`.
* It never publishes a listing by itself. Anything filed with `!list` waits in the review queue like any other submission.
