# RSS and Atom feeds

FluxerList publishes a feed of new server listings in two formats. Both are plain XML over HTTP, need no authentication, and carry the same data.

| Format   | URL                               | Best for                                                     |
| -------- | --------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------ |
| RSS 2.0 | `https://fluxerlist.com/api/rss` | Feed readers and most integrations. Works nearly everywhere. |
| Atom 1.0 | `https://fluxerlist.com/api/atom` | Developer integrations and stricter readers.                 |

> **Tip**

> Not sure which to pick? Use RSS.

## Query parameters

| Parameter  | Type   | Default | Description                                            |
| ---------- | ------ | ------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| `category` | string | none    | Only return listings in this category. Case-sensitive. |
| `limit`    | number | 50      | Items to return, up to 100.                            |

Feeds are cached for 5 minutes, and most readers poll every 15 to 60 minutes, so you'll see new listings promptly.

## Filter by category

Add `?category=` to either URL. Category names are case-sensitive, and include Gaming, Music, Anime, Technology, Education, Art, Sports, Community, Roleplay, and Science, plus more.

```text
https://fluxerlist.com/api/rss?category=Gaming
https://fluxerlist.com/api/atom?category=Music
https://fluxerlist.com/api/rss?category=Technology&limit=25
```

## Subscribe in a reader

Paste the feed URL into any reader. Popular options include [Feedly](https://feedly.com), [Inoreader](https://inoreader.com), [NewsBlur](https://newsblur.com), [NetNewsWire](https://netnewswire.com), [Thunderbird](https://thunderbird.net), and self-hosted [Miniflux](https://miniflux.app). Firefox and Safari can also subscribe when you paste the feed URL into the address bar.

## Use the feed in code

**`Node.js`**

```javascript title="Node.js"
const res = await fetch("https://fluxerlist.com/api/rss?limit=10");
const xml = await res.text();
// Parse with fast-xml-parser, xml2js, or rss-parser
```

**`Python`**

```python title="Python"
import feedparser
feed = feedparser.parse("https://fluxerlist.com/api/rss?category=Gaming")
for entry in feed.entries:
    print(entry.title, entry.link)
```

> **Note**
>
> The feeds cover new **server** listings. For voter data on your own listings, use the [API](/api-quickstart).
